Born and raised in Ruston, Tyler graduated from Ruston High School. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctorate Degrees at Tulane University. In his early career, Tyler contributed to the revision of the Louisiana Civil Code and was also the youngest authorized assistant examiner of the federal section in the Louisiana Bar Exam. More recently, he has worked abroad as Tulane and Loyola summer legal faculty in Greece in 2004 and Panama in 2017. Additionally, several of his pieces have been published in the Louisiana Bar Journal.

A graduate of Ruston High School, Richard obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he was a student-athlete. Richard earned his Juris Doctorate Degree at Louisiana State University. He has served as the President of the Lincoln Parish Bar Association on two separate occasions, in 1979 and 2000. He was an appointed member of the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board, on which he has served for twelve years.
Richard enjoys spending time with his wife Linda, their children, and their four granddaughters, all of whom are proud to call Ruston home.

Tyler gives back to his community through membership in the Ruston and Lincoln Rotary Clubs and involvement with Temple Baptist Church.
